View of The Counting HouseA pub you can count on!

Situated in the thriving community of Silsden, the winner of this year‘s Winter Pub of the Year is the village‘s newest pub The Counting House.

The building, on Kirkgate, was previously a Barclays Bank outlet but has since been transformed and over the last two years has become a popular and quirky bar, with an ever growing clientele.

Proprietors John and Annie have managed to maintain many of the bank‘s features (for example, the cellar is situated behind the safe door), whilst putting their own style and stamp on the building. Regular visitors will know the building is still being added to, with regular additions appearing on the walls and ceiling. All this adds to the lovely atmosphere that has been created.

The bar has four hand pumps, all of which are in regular use. Dark Horse, Hetton Pale Ale is the permanent beer and the other pumps feature guest beers which are changed regularly. There are two lagers on tap and also a cider. A further line is being adapted at present and the hope is to have changing craft ales in the future.

the Counting House seating areaThere is an extensive gin menu which is well received, and the kitchen opens from Thursday to Sunday. Thursday night includes a special offer of £5 for a selected main course from a selection of three or four, at least one of which is a vegetarian option. A traditional Sunday lunch is offered on Sunday. The kitchen closes at 7pm. Booking is often necessary.

The Counting House is closed on Monday and Tuesday, and opens at 3pm on Wednesday and Thursday. From Friday to Sunday, it opens from 11am.

This lovely pub is a welcome addition to Silsden and well worth a visit, either on its own or as part of a trip to Silsden to visit all the pubs and the areas facilities.
